Thank you for visiting the home page of Glen MacNeil.

Glen grew up on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia where music is part of the cultural landscape. Glen's family is a musical one and the family home was host to many kitchen parties. Those homestead hoedowns proved to be a strong influence for Glen. He would sit and watch his father play the guitar for hours while relatives sang their favourite old songs.

At the age of fifteen, Glen joined his first band. This is where he tried his hand at writing and performed the first song he ever wrote in front of an appreciative hometown crowd. This would prove to be just the beginning for MacNeil.

After moving to Ontario in search of a job, Glen sought out "open mic" nights to perform his original material. His songs were welcomed and encouraged at these sessions and it added more fuel to Glen's passion for writing.

A few bands and a few years later, Glen MacNeil is now a solid solo performer and his passion for writing and performing grows stronger every day. He has also recently recorded a CD with longtime friend and fellow musician, Mark Crampsie. The two call themselves ReGael. Their debut CD "Coastlines" was released in December of 2004 and is getting rave reviews.

Glen MacNeil has shared the stage with such performers as "The Godfather of Celtic music", John Allan Cameron as well as Canadian folk icon, James Keelaghan.
